Performing Members

In order to become a performing member of our Company and take part in our productions you must be able to demonstrate a good vocal ability in singing and strong acting skills.

How do we assess this?

Firstly, we ask you to fill in a membership application form (see below) and send it to our membership secretary so we can work out if you are right for us and we are the right Company for you.

Why do you need to go through this process?

We are an amateur company, and it costs us time & money to undertake auditions and we want to ensure we don’t waste anyone’s time.

What happens if your application is successfully processed?

We will arrange a suitable date and time for your audition.

What do you need to do for the audition?

We will ask you to sing a song of your choosing; preferably something from the musical theatre genre, and you will be asked to perform a short monologue to assess your acting ability.

What happens when you pass the audition?

You are a member of our company for as long as you wish to be. Performing members pay £20 a year as a membership subscription, which pays for our administration and our quarterly newsletters. You do not have to perform in every production we undertake but can still remain a member as long as you continue paying your yearly membership

If you decide to perform in a particular production, we ask you for a show fee, which is usually £50 for our main November productions, and a smaller amount for our Spring Show. If you wish to have a principle part in one of our shows you we be asked to audition for the current Director and Musical director for that production.

Is that it?

Yes, welcome to the Company!

Non-performing Members

We welcome anyone who wishes to join our Company to help with the many back stage, technical or administrational aspects of the theatre company. You don’t have to have a background in theatre or performance, just a love for getting involved.

To become a non-performing member and help us backstage or with other non-performing aspects of the company, fill in the below online form and we will be in contact. You can also download and mail the membership form below but make a note on it which aspect of backstage you would like to help with.

We also have a number of people who have chosen to support the society by becoming a Patron and generously donating either £30 for a single patronage or £50 for a couple. You do not have to audition if you wish to be a Patron.

If you would like to find out how to become a patron, or more information on becoming a member, please contact our membership secretary, Steve Strachan via email on

Applicants should note that this is an amateur performing company. The current annual membership fee is £20 and there is an additional supplement payable for each show that members perform in, which is normally £50 for our major November production and £15 for our Spring productions, although this may vary as circumstances dictate.

The data provided by you in this form will be stored on a computer and will be used solely for (1) administering the membership records of the company, (2) planning future productions and (3) maintaining contact with members. No personal data will be passed to any third party for any reason whatsoever.
