Committee 2016-2017

Officers

Richard Ould: President

13624908_10154965249944008_1325386818_nI was absolutely amazed and proud to be invited to become President of BSMTC last year, I joined Bishops Stortford Amateur Operatic Society as it was then known in 2002 and my first show was Annie Get Your Gun. I became Treasurer the following year, a post which I held for 6 years.

In my time with our wonderful company I have made so many lovely friends and that is what makes my 20 mile drive to rehearsals so worthwhile. We have an excellent committee running the group who work tirelessly to ensure that our shows are of the highest standard and that all members are proud to participate. My simple aim for the next 3 years is to care for our company and to ensure happiness and fulfilment for all our members.

IMG_4896Alex has performed in many Musical Theatre productions since she decided she wanted to ‘sing properly’ at the age of 16. Alex has enjoyed performing with BSMTC Seniors for over 10 years, being fortunate enough to have played roles such as Julie Jordan in Carousel, Laurey in Oklahoma, Hodel in Fiddler on The Roof, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance. She has also directed two of the BSMTC Seniors’ Spring Shows, previously been a committee member and Chairman and has now returned for a second term. She currently teaches singing both privately and at The Jenny Myhill School of Dance and Performing Arts in Bishop’s Stortford, where she also teaches Musical Theatre classes.

Emma Giibson: Honorary Secretary: secretary@bsmtc.org.uk

image1Hello, my name is Emma and I am the new Honorary Secretary for BSMTC from May 2016. I have been a member of the society since 2013; I joined just in time to take part in Carousel. This is my second year on the committee but my first as Honorary Secretary.

I have been involved in theatre and musicals since my early school days and have been involved with a number of different theatrical societies. My favourite musicals are The Phantom of the Opera and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

I can’t think of my favourite BSMTC moment, there have been so many to choose from and I’m looking forward to many more!

If you need to contact me with regard to the secretarial aspects of the society, you can contact me here.

Charlotte Tarran: Honorary Treasurer: treasurer@bsmtc.org.uk

Joined BSMTC: 2013

Hi, I’m Charlotte, BSMTCs Treasurer since 2014. When I’m not singing or treasurer-ing I’m studying to be an accountant and telling terrible jokes. If I could play any part in any show, it would have to be Fanny Brice in Funny Girl.

Best BSMTC moment: I don’t think I can pick just one. There have been so many. We had Les Mis workshop last year which was so intense and we learnt so much about acting, singing and feeling on stage. Also, the opening of a show every night is the best feeling ever!

If you’ve got any financial queries regarding the society I can be contacted here
